Layout Design

The layout is in essence an Out & Back layout. This is made possible by the addition of a reverse loop. From Wurzel Junction via Malago Wharf. It is also possible have a continuous run. A new three road fiddle yard has been added as Bournemouth West.
When running to time table trains run from Bath Victoria via the fiddle yard ( Birmingham New Street and Bournemouth West) to Wurzel Junction, Malago Wharf returning to Wurzel Junction then the main fiddle yard, back to Magotsfield and Bath. Engine changes taking place at Bath and Wurzel Junction. All this makes for interesting operating sessions.

This photo shows very clearly both fiddle yards. Bournemouth West is closest on the return loop, and Birmingham New Street in the back ground. At least with this design I have fully assessable fiddle yards. I prefer the American term staging yards, as I seldom fiddle with stock in this area.
