All Change at Wurzel Junction |

The layout is progressing well. All Stock is fitted with Kadee couplers. Track laying is complete, and the last major area remaining to be completed is the Terminus area. The Terminus and reverse loop are separate power districts, in DCC terms. Wurzel Junction is now operated to a time table. Heavy rationalisation has taken place on my motive power to weed out those locomotives that were not up to slow and precise running. This is a steam age layout, Diesels have been relegated to track cleaning duties. Two fiddle yards are operational, these represent Bournemouth West and Birmingham New street. |

A brief history of the line |
Wurzel junction (82H) was located at the junction of the North Somerset, and Somerset and Dorset Railways. Deep in the Somerset coalfields, the North Somerset provided an another Route to Bristol and the North. Reduced congestion on the single track section of the S&Djr Increased the importance of Wurzel Junction. The motive power depot became a vital Change over point, and a wide variety of motive power could be seen. The town developed around coal, and Somerset's finest scrumpy, “Wurzel Juice”. |
