Depending on what size decoder you plan to fit it might be necessary to cut a little out of the chassis for the decoder to fit. I normally use a junior hack saw. The left hand picture is the A4 chassis note the decoder easily fits at the front. Those in the middle and right show the Lord Nelson chassis.

You will need to relieve the chassis both sides to allow the shrink tube covering the motor terminals to fit through the chassis. If your fitting a decoder in an Ivatt tank read my instructions on the next page.

Fit shrink tube over the grey and orange wires of your decoder and solder each Wire to the motor terminals, the pull the heat shrink tubing over the terminals. Clean up the chassis, making sure there are no burrs, and reassemble. I find use of a taper reamer to gently ease the location holes in the chassis helps re-assembly. A touch of La Bell or Woodlands grease on the gears make for easy running. Before fitting the body check for shorts with a continuity tester.
