Botswana April 2002

I have been dreaming of this trip for sometime -  now a reality. I love the first few minutes on the road

trying to work out what's packed and what's forgotten, most of the time you will only work this one out

when you need something. Tanya and I  got going in our Landrover (D90 TDI) from Johannesburg just past

noon Friday 5th April,  met everyone north of Pretoria at the Petro-port, a total of four 4x4's traveling. Travelers

are - Norman in his Pajero and two passengers, Paul professional photographer and Tony who has a deep passion

for photography; Ray and Lilo in their Prado; and Barry and Hannah in their Landrover 110. We set off from here at 13:30

and made it into Botswana, crossing at Martins Drift at17:45, no checking for meat as I guess because it was nearing

closing time for the border. Filled up with diesel then booked into the camp site at the bar while having sundowners.

Set up camp, then headed back to the bar/restaurant for a meal.

No oil, a few crates, as it was on average 38c sunny most of the time, one morning of rain for a hour, and the day we left Drotsky's it looked to stay so we gave the caves a miss, will give us something to do next time we're up.
