At our school, we have a very active Interact Society. Every Tuesday evening our society is either entertaining the society members or lending their help to those in need in the Port Elizabeth region.
For those interested in dancing, we have a popular Ballroom Dancing Society, for those with rhythm and those without.
The Drama Society at Westering is very successful. It has performed many musical productions such as the musical "Grease" and, in 1998, the musical "Fame". This year we were treated to a Cup Of Life Revue with budding stars such as Sandy Diba abd Duonette Paton.
Westering also boasts a First Aid society, who are always lending a helping hand whether at sports or anytime during school hours.
For those pupils who prefer the ground rather than water and who are fit and adventurous the Hiking Club undertakes many trails and hikes. They have just returned from the Outeniqua hike.
The Environmental Society is very active in helping the museum in anyway they can and also helping in beach clean-ups.
Westering also has a popular school magazine called the Westringer. This is for all those creative people and for those who enjoy learning new things about our teachers and many other interesting facts behind the scenes.
For all those historians, Westering has a Has ( History Alive Society ), which is always exploring the history in and around Port Elizabeth.
The Sword society is for those who enjoy praise and worship and sharing the Word of God.
Junior City Council is for pupils interested in finding out what happens in council meetings. We are also involved in projects concerning the youth.
TIA ( Teenagers In Action is for those pupils interested in counseling and helping and teaching people about the life of a teenager.
The Debating Society meets on Wednesday nights and hosts an annual debating festival involving 600 pupils. Pupils are involved in Oxford and British Parliamentary debating, impromptu speeches and social meetings.
The stakes are high, all is quite, all that's left is that final move to win. There again you make one wrong move and all is lost. Yes this is the game of Chess. Headed by Miss L.Heyns and captained by S.Fitzmaurice, this is the team that battles it out every Friday.
The librarians play a vital role in keeping the media centre organised and they also enjoy social functions as a group.
Once a week there is a societies period at Westering High School, when pupils can partake in various learning activities, such as computers, drama, woodwork, as well as arts and crafts. The Westering choir was established this year and has a membership of 54. They performed at many functions during the year, including prizegiving.
