Wine tasting
Route 62 is known for its fantastic wineries. Many of these wineries are not too far from Barrydale itself. An example of this is Barrydale's own winery, the Barrydale Cooperative Winery and Distillery. After starting in 1940 they expanded so much that today they boast a number of achievements including South African Champion in 1998 with Ruby Cabernet and Cabernet Sauvignon. Another example of a great winery in the area is the Joubert - Tradauw Winery that started in 1982.At this stage the winery used to supply the Barrydale winery with grapes but recently launched its own wines. This winery launched a Merlot / Cabernet (50-50) blend in 2000. The Joubert - Tradauw winery also launched a Chardonnay in 2000.
