Mountain swimming
The Buffeljags River cuts its way deep into the mountains near Barrydale. The Tradouw Pass was built through the gorge that the Buffeljags River makes. One can easily go swimming in the mountain rock pools that are formed by the river. There are picnic spots along the Tradouw Pass, many of them close to magnificent mountain rock pools. On hot summer days there is nothing better than to bathe in one of these mountain rock pools. Many of the pools are not visible from the road and a walk down to the river is necessary. Once this is done one can enjoy a private, relaxing swim in the heart of the Overberg.
