These cats are exquisite, powerhouses of pure muscle and can be shot on sight, because they are considered as vermin by stock farmers. . We are appealing to game lodges to sign up and prevent these beautiful cats from becoming stuffed, static objects. . These lithe felines are not on any endangered list, but can very well be...  one day. . At the moment they are being caught and put down on a farm in the Free State. The farmer is doing this as humanely as possible, but we would like to present another option to the killing. . We need to have a list ready as these cats do not survive in captivity for long. A caracal is not a carrion eater and a wild, caught cat will not touch 'dead' food presented to it. .
