SANAE- Photographic tour

E-base was used as an emergency base for SANAE III. Since operations was moved to Vesleskarvet E-base is used a accommodation for people working on the ice shelf and the drivers that operate on the cargo route to Vesles. E-base is built on extendable stilts that was raised every second year or as the snowbuild-up required. This is not done any more as the sub-frame has become unstable, the base was declared unsuitable for human occupation and E-base is to be decommisioned at the end of 2004.
