![]() The house has 4 rooms, each with their own bathroom and 5 other rooms with a bathroom (4 showers, 4 toilets) to share. Set in a garden with a lapa and barbeque. The bar is open to the members on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The guest house is on a bus route to the city centre and not far from a shopping centre. Pretoria, established in 1855 became the Capital of the province then known as Transvaal in 1860. In a very short time Pretoria developed in an active centre of industry, sport and training. With a wonderful geographical position and height of 1370m it has the best temperature throughout the year. |
The suburb is very
green and has numerous trees all over. The city still looks a lot
like it did in those days. A important monument of the
city is the 'Voortrekker monument'. Established in remembrance
of the first boers who came to the Transvaal colony. The story
of the Great Trek of 1838 is depicted on the walls of the
monument.
Other historical buildings and places are, the Union building on Meintjieskop and Church Square with its wonderful historic public buildings. Pretoria is also the city of churches and museums and the Pretoria Art Museum is one of them. ![]() |

![]() The house consists of a TV room, 2 bed rooms one with 4 beds and one with 2 beds, a bathroom and toilet (suitable of an invalid), veranda and fully equipt kitchen. These are also some bed lined. The house are to the disposal of 1 family / group. |
The house has a barbeque in the back and secure parking. The bar and tennis facilities etc. from the adjacent club may be used by visitors and restaurants are within walking distance from there. Sport facilities consists of golf, shooting (on a ranch), swimming ect. ![]() |

IPA HOUSE DE TIJGER
![]() Besides a club and the bureau of the Western Cape region, the house consists of a living-room, one bedroom with a dubble bed and one bedroom with 4 single beds, a fully equipt kitchen and a bathroom and toilet. For a very low tariff bedlinen and be hired as well. The guest house is situated nearest to the swimming pool and guests and make use of it. |
Cape Town best known for Table Mountain is situated on the most southern point of South Africa. From the living-room of the house you have an excellent view on the mountain. Day tours can be arranged to Cape point, beter known as Cape of Good Hope, or Cape of Storms, the place where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans over flow each other. One other suggestion for relaxation is to drive down the wine route. Stretching over 50km round Cape Town. In this surroundings you can still find houses in true Netherlands architectual style. |

TIMOUR HALL VILLA
![]() The villa is built on an estate of 5 hectare, complete with lanes of trees, with squirrels playing in the woods. There is also a rockery. This IPA house is definitely classified as the most beautiful of them all. Timour Hall is one of the oldest guest houses in South Africa. One part of the house even dates back to the 18th century. |
If you know anything
about South African history you will know that the 18th century
was a very respectable lifetime. It is therefore not hard to
see why Tiour Hall was declared a national monument.
After being empty and abandoned for a few years the house slowly got back to live. At the end of Timour Hall road, passing a small river and the district of Plumstead and Constantia you will find a avenue of oaks and at the end of that you have a great view on the proud and respectable country-house. After a long struggle Timour Hall was formaly opened as an IPA house in 1989. ![]() ![]() |

| These notes are
disigned to assist in completing and using the Travel Form.
It must be emphasised that there is no guarantee of any help
from a foreign section and contact will not always be possible.
Approaches to overseas sections for any kind of assistance relating to travel must be made through National Headquarters using the official International Travel Form. International agreements have laid down that six months notice is required in respect of group visits and six weeks for individual and family groups. Please send the completed form to The Travel Secretary, National Headquarters, P.O. Box 11608, Queenswood 0121, within the specified time limits. The more notice you can give, the more chance there is of something being arranged for you. Complete the form clearly, either by typewriter or printing in block capital letters. Remember the form has to be photocopied and may be read by someone who's native tongue is not English and who will, therefore, struggle to make out handwritten words. Please complete the form carefully, without abbreviations of place names. Write the dates of your visit carefully with the month in words to avoid confusion. Date of Arrival is the date you arrive at your overseas destination. Date of Departure is the date you leave your overseas destination. When requesting hosting or to be met by IPA members, it is useful to indicate ages and interests on the form. This is to allow a suitable link with overseas colleagues. Should you wish to elaborate on your travel plans, please feel free to supply as much information on a accompanying sheet. |
If assistance with
finding accommodation is requested, any offers made should
be accepted or declined in writing to the section concerned.
There have been instances where sections have been charged for
accommodation booked on behalf of members who have not turned
up. This does not make for happy international relations and
spoils the chance of future visitors being offered assistance.
Finally, IPA worldwide is run by volunteers. The success of the Travel Form system depends solely on their willingness to assist. If for some reason your travel plans are changed or cancelled, let National Headquarters in Pretoria know immediately so that they can advise the overseas sections timeously. Use a separate form for each country (section) you are visiting. Evidence of paid up IPA membership must be provided. Requests for reservations will not be paid for by the Hosting section. Information on accommodation ect. may be sent to the IPA member, who will then be able to make the reservation direct. The Hosting section will not be financially responsible for cancellations. If requesting hosting facilities be prepared to be flexible and express you appreciation. All bookings and appointments must be met, if not, the member will be responsible for financial liabilities. NB : These guidelines do not apply to travel arrangements arising from an emergency (i.e. medical requests). |

The London area is the most requested place in Britain to be visited by our IPA Colleagues. A "London Reception Officer" (LRO) carries out an important job of identifying the requirements of the visitor, before passing the datails to one of the four IPA Regions which cover the area. Following problems, with terrorism etc., the availability and access to certain historical buildings, monuments, and Police premises within the London area has been restricted. Therefore it is important to have someone who can help to point you in the right direction. This service can only be provided with the co-operation of those who are visiting Britain. It is imperative that all visitors understand the adequate notice, on the "International Travel Form" be forwarded to either the British Section Headquarters or London Reception Officer. The minimum notice required is 6 months for "Group" visits, and 6 weeks for a party of 2-3 persons. More notice is appreciated. To assist the LRO, it is important to identify the exact area you intend to stay whilst in London. If a request is received within these specified periods of time, no guarantee can be given that facilities will be afforded to those visitors seeking assistance. There are only a small number of IPA members who actually live in London. Because of this situation, and the heavy duty commitments of London IPA members, whilst regrettable, it has become imperative to comply with the directions ontlined above. Members of the IPA in the London area regret this position, and should a request be received late, some visitors will have to be informed that no facilities can be provided, and that they will have to make their own arrangements. The areas served by the London Reception are: Countries of Bedfordshire, Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Surrey Sussex, City of London, the Metropolitan Police districts, all the Channel Ports, Heathrow and Gatwich Airports. This leaflet is not disinged as a tourist guide, and information can be obtained from Tourist Information Centres, but to assist, we have produced a small list of some of the interesting places in the area which you may wish to visit: |
Buchingham Palace,
House of Parliament, Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Hampton
Court, St. Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Madame Tassauds,
Many varied Museums of Art/History and Science, Greenwich,
Thames Barrier, Changing of Guards, Ceremony of the Keys at
tower of London (Very restricted, Entrance on certain dates),
Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus and many more places.
It is always the wish of many to visit "New Scotland Yard" in London. It is still also thought that this is a fully operational Police Station. It is unfortunate that we have to inform you that this is now basically a very large administrative building for the Metropolitan Police Service, and all "Operation Policing" is carried out from various Police premises within the Metropolitan Police area. Access to New Scotland Yard and the "Peelers Restaurant" can only be obtained with prior notification and visitors MUST be escorted by a Serving British Police Officer. Any visitors arriving without prior notification, will unfortunately be turned away. The Metropolitan Police "Black Museum" is world famous, but due to its popularity, access is difficult, and only open to "Serving Police Officers". Owing to recent policy changes, bookings must be made at least one month in advance. Access is now very restricted. Whenever a request for assistance is received by the "London Reception Officer", the details are looked at, before being passed to one of the four Regions which cover the London area. We welcome visits from our colleagues abroad, but it is important that all the points included in this leaflet are remembered, especially the requirements for plenty of notification. The British Section have produced this leaflet for circulation throughout the Sections, Regions and Branches of our World Wide Association. |
