INTRODUCTION Rivendell Hatchery is a South African owned company that supplies mainly Lake Malawi and Lake Victorian cichlids .Our bloodstocks originates direct from either the Malawian, Mozambique, or the Tanzanian side of Lake Malawi, or from a well-known German company that imports from Lakes Malawi & Victoria. We sell no fish that have an unknown parental history, and only deal in pure species. All fish that we supply are bred here at our farm. Fish are largely grown out of doors in hot-house tunnel systems. This means that they benefit from bright natural sunlight and abundant natural food organisms such as algae, aufwuchs and insect larvae. There is no similarity between tunnel-pond bred cichlids and tank-raised fish. The former are robust with vibrant colours and well developed finnage. Tank-raised specimens of the same age, are of inferior size and quality, and pale coloured by comparison. |
