COMPOSITION:
Each 100 mL of Hexidin Obstetric Cream contains 1 g chlorhexidine gluconate and 4.0% v/v isopropanol as a preservative.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A13.1 Antiseptics and Cleansing agents.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Hexidin Obstetric Cream is an antibacterial lubricant.
INDICATIONS:
Hexidin Obstetric Cream is used as a lubricant for vaginal examinations and for application to the skin on and around the vulva and perineum during labour.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Do not use on the eyes, brain, meninges or middle ear. Skin sensitivity to chlorhexidine.
WARNINGS:
For external use only.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Use undiluted. Apply Hexidin Obstetric Cream liberally to the patient's skin around the vulva and perineum and to the hands of the midwife. To facilitate vaginal examination spread the cream over gloved fingers.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Skin sensitivity to chlorhexidine and ototoxicity have been reported. Hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains to occur on fabrics which have been in contact with chlorhexidine gluconate. An oxidising bleach such as sodium perborate should be used in laundering.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Accidental ingestion:Empty stomach by means of gastric lavage. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.

A white, pourable smooth cream.
PRESENTATION:
100 mL and 2.5 L containers; 10 mL and 20 mL sachets.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25° C. Keep out of reach of children
