PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: A.1.1 Central Analeptics.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: An effect on metabolism has been shown in man indicating improved oxygen utilisation. NOOTROPIL has a low toxicity and has no stimulating, sedative or neurovegitative activities.
INDICATIONS: NOOTROPIL has been used with varying effect in the following conditions and could influence them favourably, although no convincing proof of efficacy has been submitted.
1.
Involutional syndromes related to ageing.
2.
Chronic alcoholism.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: NOOTROPIL has not been found to have any contra-indications to date.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Adults: the average dosage shall be as follows:
1 x 800 mg tablet three times daily. This initial dosage should be carried on for 3 to 8 weeks before the dosage is gradually reduced to half a tablet three times daily.
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: There are no metabolites and no accumulation and the LD/50 is above 10 g/kg.
