Each 100 g contains 5 g refined alcoholic extract of coal tar and 2 g of allantoin.
Alphosyl Cream is preserved with methylparaben 0,1% (m/m) and propylparaben 0,01% (m/m).
A 13.9.1 Preparations for psoriasis.
Allantoin stimulates tissue formation while coal tar is anti-pruritic and is effective in a number of skin conditions.
Alphosyl Cream and Alphosyl Lotion are recommended for use in the treatment of symptoms associated with psoriasis eg. sealing, itching and redness.
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Discontinue if irritation occurs.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Alphosyl Lotion: Shake the bottle well before use.
Alphosyl Lotion and Alphosyl Cream: Apply liberally 2 - 4 times daily, massaging well into the affected areas. Apply freely, even to the scalp. Occlusive dressings are unnecessary. Where hard scales exist, apply after a hot bath. Optimum results may require several weeks of daily applications. After the lesions have cleared, continue to use to prevent recurrence.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Coal tar may cause irritation and an acne-like eruption of the skin. It has a photosensitising action.
Alphosyl Lotion is a light tan, free-flowing emulsion with the odour of coal tar.
Alphosyl Cream is a light tan, smooth and homogeneous cream with the odour of coal tar.
Alphosyl Cream: Tubes of 100 g
Alphosyl Lotion: Bottles of 250 mL
Store in a cool place (below 25°C).
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not refrigerate.
