Each 5,48 g of powder or 200 mL of reconstituted solution contains:

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A.24 Mineral substitutes, electrolytes.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
When taken in solution these electrolytes will replenish low levels in the body and prevent lower levels from developing. The solution is absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract, assisting in the restoration of osmotic equilibrium. The dextrose is oxidised as a source of energy raising the glycogen content of the liver and helping to prevent acidosis.

INDICATIONS:
ELECTROPAK is indicated for the replacement of electrolytes and fluid loss in infantile diarrhoea and gastro-enteritis which is not severe enough to require intravenous therapy.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
The preparation is contra-indicated for patients with glucose galactose malabsorption syndrome.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

FOR SACHETS:

Cut along the dotted line. Open the sachet and unfold the base at the opposite end. Stand the opened sachet on a table or other level surface. Add previously boiled and then cooled water up to the RED LINE (200 mL) and stir thoroughly. Administer in accordance with your doctor’s instructions.

NB It is important to add the correct amount of water as too strong a solution can be harmful. For this reason, do not hold the opened sachet by hand while filling it but stand it on a level surface.

FOR BULK PACKS:Dissolve two level medicine measurefuls in 200 mL (5,48 g in 200 mL) of previously boiled and then cooled water and stir thoroughly. Administer in accordance with your doctor’s instructions.SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Care must be taken when administered to patients with renal failure and diabetes insipidus.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Overdosage has not been encountered but should any adverse effects manifest themselves treatment should be stopped.

IDENTIFICATION:
A pale pink powder with an aroma of raspberry.
When reconstituted a pink solution with a mild sweet-saline raspberry flavour.

PRESENTATION:
Sachets containing 5,48 g of powder for preparation of 200 mL of solution.
Jars of 100 g, 500 g and 2,5 kg.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store dry powder below 25°C in a dry place.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
The reconstituted solution must be used immediately.
