COMPOSITION:
Each 2,4 g suppository contains:
Glycerin         1,698 mL

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 11.6 Lubricants and faecal softeners.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Acts by its osmotic properties to attract water to the lumen thereby softening the stool and promoting bowel movement.

INDICATIONS:
For the relief of occasional constipation.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Sensitivity to the ingredients. Do not use unless the patient to be treated is, in fact, constipated.

WARNING:
FOR RECTAL USE ONLY.
This medicine should not be used in the presence of abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting. Frequent or prolonged use of this preparation may result in dependence on laxatives and loss of normal bowel function.
If a sudden change in bowel habits is noticed that has persisted for a period greater than two weeks, consult a doctor before using the laxative.
No laxative should be used for longer one week, except on the advice of a doctor.
Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a doctor. May cause rectal discomfort or a burning sensation.
Must be administered with caution to diabetic patients or to those at risk of dehydration.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Cut one suppository off
At the slit, pull one side of the foil foreword, to release the suppository.

ADULTS AND CHILDREN 6 YEARS OF AGE AND OVER
One suppository to be inserted rectally, as a single dose, when necessary. Hold the wide base of the suppository in the fold of a cloth. Lubricate the pointed end with petroleum jelly or moisten with water and insert well up into the rectum. Even though complete solution is not necessary for action, the suppository should be held for five minutes to induce a motion. Acts within 15 to 30 minutes.

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Glycerin when used rectally may cause rectal discomfort or a burning sensation. Large doses of glycerin, when taken orally, may lead to serious toxic effects..

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
See side-effects and special precautions. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.

IDENTIFICATION:
Smooth, clear to pale yellow, translucent, torpedo shaped, suppositories.

PRESENTATION:
Glycerin suppositories are available in unit cartons containing 12 suppositories sealed in foil.
Also available in a size suitable for use by infants and children.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C. Protect from moisture. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
