Methyl hydroxybenzoate 0,17% m/v in a pleasantly flavoured syrup base.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: A10.1 Antitussives and Expectorants.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Carbocysteine reduces the viscosity of non-infected secretions from mucous cells in the respiratory tract.
INDICATIONS: Adjunctive therapy in respiratory tract disorders characterised by excessive viscous mucous in the absence of infection.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Active peptic ulcer.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Capsules:
Adults: 2 Capsules three times daily, reducing to 1 capsule four times daily when a satisfactory response has been obtained.
Syrup:
Adults: 2 - 3 medicine measures (10 - 15 mL) three times daily. Children
(5 - 12 years): 9 medicine measure (5 mL) three times daily. (2 - 5 years): ½ medicine measure (2,5 mL) two to four times daily. (according to age)
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Nausea, diarrhoea, headache. Caution must be exercised in patients with a history of gastric or duodenal ulcer. Safe use in pregnancy has not been established.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT: See "Side effects and special precautions". Treatment is supportive and symptomatic.

PRESENTATION:
Capsules: Containers of 30 and 100 capsules. Syrup: Bottles of 200 mL and 2,5 litres.
