COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains Senna Dry Extract containing Sennosides A and B equivalent to 7,5 mg Sennoside B.

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 11.5 Laxatives.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Sennosides A and B are a natural complex of anthraquinone glycosides found in senna. The active ingredients (viz. Glycosides) are absorbed from the intestinal tract and the active anthraquinones liberated in the course of breakdown are excreted largely into the colon, which is thereby stimulated.

INDICATIONS:
Constipation.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Undiagnosed abdominal pains and patients with symptoms of appendicitis or intestinal obstruction, nausea and vomiting.

WARNINGS:
Frequent or prolonged use of this preparation may result in dependence on laxatives. It you have noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for a period of longer than two weeks, consult a doctor before using the laxative.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
ADULTS:
The usual dose is between 2 to 4 tablets which may be increased or decreased depending on the response.

CHILDREN OVER THE AGE OF 6 YEARS:
Half the adult dose.

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
The constant use of laxatives to induce a regular daily habit may decrease the sensitivity of the intestinal mucous membranes so that larger doses have to be taken and the bowel fails to respond to normal stimuli.
Abdominal cramps and flatulence may occur.
Melanosis coli and colouration of the urine and faeces have followed the use of Gal Tablette. In the event of continued constipation after the use of this drug for a period of more than one week, consult a physician.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Severe diarrhoea and electrolyte disturbances.
Treatment must be symptomatic with fluid and electrolyte replacement.

IDENTIFICATION:
Thick khaki coloured biconvex tablet.

PRESENTATION:
Packs of 12 tablets.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C in tightly closed containers
