COMPOSITION:
Ascorbic Acid 500 mg/5 mL.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 22.1.4 (Vitamins).
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is an essential factor in normal human nutrition. Deficiency of ascorbic acid in the diet results in scurvy and other less serious conditions.
INDICATIONS:
Ascorbic acid is administered by injection in severe deficiency states and where persistent vomiting, diarrhoea or other conditions prevent adequate utilisation by mouth.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
None.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Prophylactic, 25 to 75 mg daily; therapeutic 200 to 600 mg daily.
Children up to 5 years, 50 mg daily.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
None.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Ascorbic acid is usually well tolerated. When given in excess of the body's needs it is rapidly eliminated in the urine, causing a mild diuresis.

Colourless or pale yellow solution in amber ampoules.

STORAGE DIRECTIONS:
Store in a dry place, below 25°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
