PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION A 13.12 Acne preparations
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION QUINODERM is a non-sticky, non-greasy astringent cream, combining the bacterial and fungicidal properties of potassium hydroxyquinoline sulphate with the keratolytic properties of benzoyl peroxide in a bland water-miscible base. The combination is of value in the treatment of pustular affections of the skin, particularly when associated with staphylococcal infections. The pustular and cystic forms of acne are of major importance as the destruction of tissue and resultant scarring produce permanent disfigurement. Early control of the secondary infection by the use of QUINODERM CREAM limits tissue damage and residual scarring.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE Spread thinly with the fingers over ALL the affected areas, and then gently massage, until no trace of the cream can be seen on the skin surface.
Apply three times daily, or as directed by the physician.
(N.B. It is important that the whole of the area be treated, not just individual spots or blemishes.)
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS Avoid contact with dyed fabrics, as this preparation may adversely affect the dye fastness.
In a few isolated cases overreaction to QUINODERM CREAM may occur. To minimise the possibility, select a small area of skin behind the ear, apply the cream and leave for twelve hours. If severe irritation or pronounced redness occurs, do not proceed.
