PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION
A 11.1 Digestants
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
ENZYNORM contains the two proteolytic enzymes, pepsin and cathepsin and protein-bound hydrochloric acid, which is slowly liberated in the stomach so that a sudden change of acidity is avoided. The powdered extract of the healthy gastric mucosa acts as a buffer and its components, as biological carriers of hydrochloric acid, stimulate the formation of gastrin in the gastric mucous membrane. The production of gastric juice is thereby strongly increased in a physiological way, provided that intact gastric glandular tissue still exists.
The decomposition products of low molecular weight formed in the proteolytic degradation of protein also have a secretion-promoting effect thus activating the process of digestion. At the same time the physiological increase of the gastric juice acidity produces a pH environment favourable to the proteases of the stomach. The combined effect, consisting of substitution and stimulation, ensures that ENZYNORM completely eliminates any gastric enzyme deficiency and thus restores the normal function of the stomach in a natural way.
ENZYNORM is proteolytically active within the entire pH-range of the stomach. Because of the cathepsin activity, ENZYNORM exercises its digestive function even in a faintly acid milieu such as exists at the beginning of a meal. Furthermore, there is no risk of over acidification, since the protein-bound hydrochloric acid is only released until the normal pH of the stomach is reached.
Properties include the following:
Supplements insufficient acids and enzymes in the stomach.
Restores the normal digestive function.
Relieves digestive disturbances.
Stimulates the production of the stomach's own juices.
Diagnostic aid between hypo- and hyperacidity
INDICATIONS
Digestive disturbances in general and as a result of impaired production of gastric juice
