COMPOSITION:
Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate equivalent to 500 mg elemental
calcium

PHARMALOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A.24 Mineral substitutes, electrolytes

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Calcium supplement

INDICATIONS:
FIZZICAL 500 may be used as a supplement for calcium deficiency and for remineralisation of bones.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Calcium enhances the effect of digitalis on the heart and may precipitate digitalis intoxication.

WARNINGS:
The tablets are not to be swallowed whole. First dissolve in a glass of cold water.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
The safety of this medication in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Dissolve one tablet in a glass of cold water, or take as directed.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
May cause gastro-intestinal irritation and constipation. Hypercalcaemia can occur as can alkalosis following the regular use of calcium carbonate. Calcium salts should be given cautiously to patients with impaired renal function or a history of renal stone formation. Should also be given with caution to patients with cardiac disease or sarcoidosis.
Calcium salts reduce the absorption of tetracyclines.

IDENTIFICATION:
White to off-white round effervescent tablet.

PRESENTATION:
Containers of 10 and 20 tablets

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in a cool, dry place in well closed containers, below 25ºC. Protect from light and moisture.
