COMPOSITION:
Each 100 mL of D-Germ contains 0,5 g Chlorhexidine Gluconate and 86 mL Industrial Methylated Spirits.

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
13.1 Antiseptics, Disinfectants. Cleansing Agents.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Chlorhexidine Gluconate is a biguanide with antiseptic activity. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

INDICATIONS:
The disinfection of the surgeon's hands prior to operative procedure and general hand disinfection.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Skin sensitivity to Chlorhexidine. D-Germ is incompatible with soap and other anionic agents.

WARNINGS:
For external use only.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
For external use only after washing and drying hands in the normal manner. For hand disinfection, use approximately 2½ mL D-Germ and rub well into the hands until dry. For pre-operative preparations, use approximately 5 mL D-Germ and rub well into hands and forearms until dry, using sterile nailbrush for fingernails. Repeat process.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Skin sensitivity to Chlorhexidine and ototoxicity have been reported.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
See Side Effects. Toxic effects due to ingestion of Chlorhexidine should be treated by gastric lavage.

CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION:
None.

IDENTIFICATION:
A pale blue liquid, having a characteristic odour of alcohol.

PRESENTATION:
100 mL, 500 mL, 5 L and 25 L plastic containers.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in airtight containers in a cool place, below 25°C, and protect from light and heat. Cork closures must not be used.
