Ascorbic Acid 50 mg
or Ascorbic Acid 100 mg

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Ascorbic acid supplement

INDICATIONS:
Vitamin C is indicated for the treatment of ascorbic acid deficiency especially frank scurvy.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Ascorbic Acid should be given with care to patients with hyperoxaluria.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
The recommended daily dietary allowance of ascorbic acid:
for infants is:                                 0 to 6 months         30 mg;
  6 months to 1 year         35 mg;
for children : 1 to 3 years         40 mg;
  4 to 10 years         45 mg
  11 to 14 years         50 mg
for adults and children over 15 years:                        60 mg;
for pregnant women:           70 mg;
for lactating women: 1st 6 months:         95 mg;
  2nd 6 months:         90 mg;

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Doses of 600 mg or more daily have a diuretic action. Ascorbic acid should be given with care to patients with hyperoxaluria. Tolerance may be induced in patients taking high doses.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Large doses cause diarrhoea and the formation of renal calcium oxalate calculi.

IDENTIFICATION:
White to off-white round tablet with a score on the one side:
50 mg tablet:         5,5 mm in diameter.
100 mg tablet:         6,4 mm in diameter.
250 mg tablet:         9,5 mm in diameter.
500 mg tablet:         12,8 mm in diameter.

50 mg tablet:         100, 500, 1000 and 5000
100 mg tablet:         50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in a cool dry place below 25°C, out of direct sunlight.
