COMPOSITION:
Each 10 mL of the mixture contains:–

Kaolin light	2,667 g
Apple pectin	60 mg
Nipasept	0,2% m/v
Alcohol	2,7% v/v

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
11.9 Antidiarrhoeals

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Kaolin is a gastrointestinal adsorbent. The mechanism of action of pectin in diarrhoeas is unknown. When this is fed to healthy human subjects, only a small amount is recovered in the faeces. However, in patients with diarrhoea, much larger amounts may be eliminated unchanged. The unchanged material may act in the bowel as an adsorbent and protective. (Goodman & Gilman 5th edition).

INDICATIONS:
For the symptomatic treatment of colitis, enteritis, dysentery and diarrhoea associated with food poisoning and in alkaloidal poisoning.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Shake the bottle before use.
10 –20 mL of the mixture, three to four times daily or after each loose motion. Children: 5 –10 mL.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Kaolin decreases the absorption of tetracyclines, anticholinergics, lincomycin and other drugs. Although kaolin is generally considered to be innocuous, granuloma of the stomach has been reported from its use.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Constipation and possible faecal impaction. Consult a doctor for stomach washout.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 30°C out of direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
