PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 24. Mineral substitutes, electrolytes.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
The solution will help replenish low levels of electrolytes in the body. The solution is readily absorbed from the G.I. tract assisting in restoring osmotic equilibrium after which surpluses of K+, Na+ and Cl ions are excreted in the urine. The dextrose is oxidised as a source of energy, raising the glycogen content of the liver and helping to prevent acidosis.
INDICATIONS:
To help replenish low levels of electrolytes in the body and prevent dehydration.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Patients suffering with renal and adrenal insufficiency, cardiac failure, hypertension, oedema or diabetes.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Take 200 mL of product and dilute to one litre with water.
Dose: Depending on age 50 mL 150 mL of the diluted solution four hourly i.e. 2 6 medicine measurefuls of the concentrated solution four hourly.
As a guide, the fluid intake in children suffering from severe diarrhoea should be approximately 150 170 mL/kg body mass per 24 hours.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Overdosage with sodium salts may cause diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, hypernoea and convulsions. Retention of sodium leads to the accumulation of fluid with cerebral, peripheral and pulmonary oedema.
Excessive doses of potassium salts may cause hyperkalaemia, with paraesthesia of the extremities, listlessness, mental confusion, weakness, paralysis, hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, heart block and cardiac arrest Martindale 27th edition. The treatment is supportive and symptomatic.

A pink liquid with raspberry flavour and odour.

200 mL amber plastic bottle with white snap on cap.
20 L plastic carbuoy.

Store below 30°C out of direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
