COMPOSITION:
Each 100 mL contains:
       
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose        0.30 g
Preservative:
        Benzalkonium chloride        0.01% m/v

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A. 15.4 Ophthalmic preparations; others

INDICATIONS:
Can be used to replace lacrimal secretion where this is deficient.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
None known.

WARNINGS:
As the possibility of adverse effects on the corneal permeability and the danger of disruption of the corneal epithelium with prolonged or repeated usage of benzalkonium chloride preserved ophthalmological preparations cannot be excluded, regular ophthalmological examination is required. Caution should be exercised in the use of benzalkonium chloride preserved topical medication over an extended period in patients with extensive ocular surface disease.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Instill one or two drops into the eyes as needed.

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
No side-effects have been reported. Viscotraan should not be used as a vehicle for other eye drops.

IDENTIFICATION:
Viscous, colourless solution.

PRESENTATION:
15 mL in a white dropper bottle with dropper insert and purple cap.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C and protect from light.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
