DE RUST

Toorfontein

Toorfontein (Magic or Enchanted Fountain) lies in a valley surrounded by crimson hills known as Enon Conglomerate Formations, near De Rust. The luxury tented camp which sleeps 8 people, lies snuggled against the slopes near a huge, sheer rock face, with views across the valley and the Little Karoo. The entertainment area is above a fully equipped kitchen and sheltered by an Enon Conglomerate overhang. You can sit back and reflect on the mysticism of the mountains, and the natural beauty and tranquillity of the valley, with no sound but birdsong and perhaps the bark of a baboon or forlorn call of a jackal. Natural beauty will stir and elevate your senses in a spiritual way you might never forget.

Swartberg Country Manor is nestled on the farm "Voorbedacht" situated in the Cango Valley at the foot of the Swartberg Pass. The main farmhouse was converted into a comfortable guesthouse that offers 9 en-suite guest rooms, we have also renovated the original farmhouse (dated 1864) to offer a further 5 en-suite guest rooms.

Meals are served in our spacious dining room or on the "stoep" (veranda) overlooking the spectacular Swartberg Mountains . For those exquisite warm summer days, traditional South African delicacies will be prepared outside on open fires next to the swimming pool, along with refreshing beverages served from the bar.

"Voorbedacht" is a working farm, which offers our guests the unique opportunity to explore and experience the true essence of subsistence farming in the Little Karoo. Among the various agricultural products farmed, we also farm livestock such as, cattle, sheep and ostriches. Daily walks on the farm allow guests to experience the peace and serenity of this beautiful valley, while for the more "wild at heart", mountain bikes are available to explore the more rugged terrain.
