When connecting to Telkom's Beltel service at 2,400 baud (bps) connect speed (modem telephone number 08000-11111) in both GSM and Telkom mode, we strongly recommend that you include the following additional Hayes AT commands within your normal PCBel initialisation string, and after the AT command prefix:

If you call the Beltel toll-free helpline, they almost always ask what type of modem you are using. They will also ask for it's Telkom approval number.

For the Option 14.4 kbps 2-in-1 model, the approval number is TE 96/071.

For the Option 28.8 kbps 2-in-1 model, the approval number is TE 96/072.
