Initialisation Strings for use in DOS/Windows 3.1x-based programs

I am using Windows 3.1x. What is the recommended initialisation string for the Option 2-in-1 modem? Where do I put it? What other parameters must be set?
Firstly, you must have Card Services enabled if you are using DOS/Windows 3.1x. For details, see Installation into DOS/Windows 3.1x.

If you are running Windows 3.1x communications and/or fax programs for example like Trumpet WinSock for connecting to the Internet, or WinFax Lite v4 for faxing, and there is no Option driver available, then we recommend the following generic initialisation string be placed within the appropriate section of your 16 bit communications software.

This generic initialisation string to be placed within the setup section of your Windows 3.1-based communications and/or fax software is:

AT&FX1&C1&D2S6=6&K3S7=50S0=0

IMPORTANT: Also set the modem to Hardware Flow Control (RTS/CTS).

If you are using a Windows 3.1x communications package [like Trumpet WinSock], place this initialisation string in the appropriate modem SetUp section.

If you are using fax software in Windows 3.1x like the WinFax Lite v4 that is bundled free with the Option 2-in-1 modem, go to Setup, then Fax/Modem, and insert the above unique initialisation string in the "Init string" area provided. IMPORTANT: Also set the modem to a
Class 1 Fax (Hardware Flow Control) modem. For graphical details, on how to set up WinFax Lite v4 within Windows 3.1x, see the specific instructions.

Note:
Special Option drivers for Lotus Notes, cc:Mobile, MS Mail, Carbon Copy for Windows, Reachout and Windows for Workgroups v 3.11 are also available.
