Configuring the Option 2-in-1 modem in Windows 95

If using the modem only with 32 bit Windows 95-based data/fax applications in Windows 95

I am using Windows 95 and all the communications and fax software I use is 32 bit Windows 95-based. I have installed the Option modem & it's Windows 95 driver.

What other parameters, if any, must
still be set?
Firstly, you must install the Option Windows 95 driver which you will probably have done when the modem was plugged into the PCMCIA slot. See the Installation in Windows 95 FAQ for further details.

The good news is that, generally speaking, the once-off installation of the Option Windows 95 driver is ALL that is required to configure the modem in Windows 95.

So, if
you're exclusively running Windows 95 and any 32 bit Windows 95-based diallers like DialUp Networking or the Windows 95 Fax dialler, then you do not have to enter any initialisation strings, nor do you have to set up additonal parameters like Hardware Flow control and/or the Fax Class.

This is because the modem is fully Plug 'n Play, and hence the standard initialisation string provided by the special Option Windows 95 driver is automatically activated when you install the Option Windows 95 driver and the Option modem is plugged into a PCMCIA slot.

So, as long as the Option modem is selected, all the 32 bit communications and fax software applications will use the same standard Option Windows 95 driver.
