THE INTER-DEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE ON YOUTH AFFAIRS
The Inter-Departmental Committee on Youth Affairs has been established and chaired by the National Youth Commission to coordinate government programmes, develop a consolidated Youth Budget, oversee programme implementation and integrate programmes across departmental lines. Key responsibilities of this Committee are to:
- coordinate a comprehensive national framework of Government services, programmes, research and initiatives affecting young women and men across all relevant Government departments;
- monitor, review and evaluate Government policies, programmes, legislation and expenditure affecting young men and women;
- facilitate collaborative programme planning, implementation and review across all relevant departments;
- provide a forum for IDC members to become more familiar with contemporary issues facing young women and men in South Africa; and
- monitor programmes designed to support the career development young men and women employed in the public service.
