This years is starting off with a change in the control of the series. The drivers have got together and created a new club committee to run this years series. First 2 races were affected as a result of this shaky start.

20 April 2008

First race of the season for the team with one of our drivers not available but we still put on a great challenge. Running some good times for the day created excitement for the team. Still running with our low performing spare motor we still did remarkably well. Now looking to get the new World Formula motor so that we can start at the bottom again and work ourselves up in the premier class. The team scored against the World Formula class and came 9th overhaul for the day. Hopefully we will get the new type motor in time and have the chance to set everything up for the next race in Bloem on the 24th of May. Check out the pictures

24 May 2008

The team went down to Bloem namely Myself, Clive Baldwin, Dyal Taljaard and Michael Gibson on the Friday before the event as we usually do for the Bloem event as we like to have time to set up correctly for it. This time it was an added requirement as we were now running new type tyres and for the first time we were running the World Formula motor. It was clear that we had some work cut out for us with the Dunlop tyres and eventually changed all the settings to get the kart to sit better on the track. We were ready for the days racing and ran the event without glitch or any problems for the day. Kart still did not have enough rear end grip but we did at least sort out the front. Really nice close racing for most of the day putting some real excitement and tension on the team throughout the day. We know what needs to be done for the rear and it will be some great racing on the 22 June at Vereeniging. Coming 3rd in  the points log and winning the Performance trophy of the day for the class. A great result for our first outing in the World Formula class. Take a look at the pics.

 22 June 08

Well, quite an eventful race day as we blew our motor on the last lap of our first heat. The casing basically just cracked in half. Great help received from BCC as they loaned us their spare motor. This put us back in the race at the next heat as we very quickly swapped motors. Adjustments made to the kart setup proved to not really work as expected on this track as we still had too little rear end grip. Not a great disaster but would need to go back to the drawing board as we still need to find a second on our lap times. Still came 4th overhaul for the day and was able to put down some fair lap times but this 1 second off pace from the best lap times for the day is a big challenge. Take a look at the pics.

27 July 08

Back at Vereeniging again. Running our newly built motor after the last race. The motor clearly performing better and we were right there with the rest of the team. With some great racing and Clive and I putting down some good lap times put us right there with the leaders. Lap times now within .4 seconds of the best lap times of the day. Still lacking rear end grip with these Dunlop tyres and still need to address this problem some how. Coming second overall for the day was our best achievement in this class to date. Really enjoyed the great achievement and looking forward to getting that half a second from somewhere????  Take a look at the pics.

17 August 08

This race was planned for Kyalami but due to the track not allowing us to start early enough for us to complete the days racing we have had to move the racing back to Vereeniging. They really need to sort that problem out. Well, Well, his race gave us quite a challenge as we had a race incident in the beginning of the race where the door was closed on me on one of the corners and got my front wheel knocked by the rear bumper of the other kart. No serious problem at first and we both carried on racing but soon after realized that I was in trouble as that incident had damage the valve in the rim and had a flat tyre. Lost 3 Laps as we had to swap the front tyre and for the rest of the race worked very hard to get those Laps back. We did some Kart setup changes and were please to see the results were really looking good as we put down fast lap times now that were on par with the rest. Ended 4th for the day due to the flat tyre incident but that's racing. Could have ended second if that did not impact us. We still need to work on our lap times as Rogue racing are still clearly a step ahead of us. Next race is at Swartkops. Looking forward to this as we have not yet raced there due to the previous cancellations every time.

28 September 08

Well we eventually got to Swartkops. Great track and left very little room for any errors. Must say the track was quite technical and kept you on the edge the entire day. We put the new motor on the Kart for this race and must say it performed well. Taking pole position for the start and then ending 2nd for the day. Actually came first but we were docked laps as there was an error reading on the scale and unfortunately did not address it when we should have. Well it was a tough lesson but we really enjoyed the day anyway. Great racing and great track.Take a look at the pics

25/26 October 2008

The 12 hour endurance race was absolutely great. Well at least we had some real fun racing in the skid pad for most of the night and then had some good fast racing the next morning when it all dried up. The Kart was set up quite nicely and gave us no problems through out the race. Did get messed around a bit with the throttle cable that was not opening the carb fully at some stage and had to ride with one hand  to keep the throttle open. We ended up 3rd for the day. Rogue racing still up on us but it was nice close racing through out the race and neither to relax right to the end which was great. Currently lying 4th on the points log for the year with only 1 point behind for third spot for the year. One race left to go which will be run on the 16th of November. Take a look at the pics

16 November 2008

Ok, disaster struck us for the last race of the season just when we really needed to put in a good run to try take the 3rd place for the year. Oops coming in 8th for the day did not help and with yet another motor in peices. Oh, forgot to say that although we were only 1 point away for third we also were 1 point from loosing 4th. We ended up 5th for the season all on the last race. This just shown how nice and close this series is and really looking forward to next years series when we are looking at the bigger motor. At least I will not have to be concerned about blowing motors as we believe these GX 390 motors are far more robust. AND they got more power, YES !!!!!!
