Tamiya Cup Rules 2005

General Race Regulations for all classes

1. Cars must be built following the instruction manual with original Tamiya parts.

2. All parts must be used as supplied in the box and/or cut as outlined.

3. Allowable spare parts and Hop-Up option parts are shown in the 2004/5 Asia Cup spares lists, which are available separately.

4. Modifications which destroy the original form of the car, are not allowed. In all classes, except Formula-1, the tyre/rim must stay within the body shell.

5. Although the spares lists do not list all the parts permitted, you may use the spare parts supplied in the original kit. For all other spare parts and Hop-Up options, please refer to the spares lists per chassis type.

6. Radios must be crystal interchangeable. A third crystal should be available.

7. Motors must be from Tamiya.

8. Tyre additives are allowed in all classes, except Stock Touring. These must be odourless and conform to the required safety standards.

9. Each race will be of 5 minutes duration, plus the time to complete the last lap.

10. Any modifications not described in the regulations are not allowed.

11. Any other other issues not clarified in the regulations shall be handled at the discretion of the race organiser.

12. Drivers are to use their own batteries and motors. Batteries and motors will ONLY be supplied by the race organiser at the National Final event, and only in the following classes;

 

            Motors        Stock Touring

            Batteries   All classes except Expert Class

 

13. Regarding the 49*** series spare parts, these are only allowed if it is the “colour” version of a spare or Hop-Up part.

14. Only Tamiya Metal Bearing Lubricating Oil (Item 53508) and Tamiya R/C Cleaner Spray (Item 87039) will be allowed.

 

 Car Regulations for Stock Touring Class

1. Cars eligible for qualification are TL01 and TT01 chassis types.

2. No tune up parts are allowed, except some separately listed parts.

3. The speed controller is limited to a 3-step mechanical switch, or a TEU-101BK electronic speed control, as supplied in the original kit.

4. The motor is limited to a standard, 2-slot, Johnson 540 motor. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is not allowed.

5. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are NOT allowed) No modifications to the battery wires or connectors are allowed.

6. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

7. Minimum weight of the car ready to run to be 1,500g, without a transponder.

8. Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm before the race.

9. TL01 Speed Tuned Gear Set (53342) is allowed, up to a 19T pinion gear.

10. TT01 Spur Gear Set (53665) 58T is allowed, up to a 25T pinion gear.

11. Use of 53345 TL01 Toe-In Rear Upright and 50808 TG10 Rear Long Wheel Axle is allowed. (These parts are included in 58223 Castrol Mugen and 58244 Mercedes CLK Original Teile)

12. Tyres are limited to:

  • 50419 Celica Racing Radial Tyres

  • 50454 Racing Slick Tyres

  • 50810 Racing Semi-Slick Tyres

13. For TL01 allowable spare parts please refer to the Asia Cup 2003 Parts List, and for TT01 refer to the Asia Cup 2005 Parts List.

 

 

Car Regulations for Mini Chassis

 

1. Cars eligible for qualification are the M02, M03 series and M04 series chassis.

2. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are not allowed) Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm.

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. Only a 2-slot, Johnson 540 motor or a 53068 Sport Tuned motor are allowed. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is not allowed.

5. Car does not have to retain the original wheel drive concept. Drivers can choose either FWD or RWD configurations regardless of car body. 4wd or twin motor configuration will not be allowed.

6. Speed Tuned Gear – 16, 18 and 20T pinion are allowed for the M03 chassis. Up to 19T pinion is allowed for the M04 chassis, but in the case of a 26D tyre being used the pinion size is limited to a 17T.

7. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,200g, without a transponder.

8. Clearance under main chassis to exceed 3mm before the race.

9. The tyre size in the front and rear must be the same. The usable tyres are as follows;

M02, M03, M03L and M04M:

  • 50683 M-Chassis 60D Radial Tyres

  • 50684 M-Chassis 60D M-Grip Tyres

  • 53254 M-Chassis 60D Super Grip Radial Tyres

  • 53340 M-Chassis 60D Re-Inforced Tyres Type A

M04L:

  • 50419 Celica Racing Radial Tyres

  • 50454 Racing Slick Tyres

  • 50810 Racing Semi-Slick Tyres

  • 53214 Super Grip Radial Tyres

  • 53227 M2 Radial Tyres

10. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2005 Parts List for allowable parts.

 

 

Car Regulations for Formula 1 (F102 / 3) Class

(South Africa ONLY)

(RUN WITH F201 CHASSIS)  

1. Cars eligible for qualification are chassis types F102 and F103, including F103LM and F103RS types such as the Audi R8R, Toyota GT-One TS020 and the Porsche 911 GT1, but excludes the F103L Indy type chassis.

2. Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connector. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are not allowed)

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. The motor is limited to an RS540 Sport Tuned Motor (Item 53068). Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is not allowed. The motor will not be supplied by the race organizer at the final event.

5. Only the following tyres and rims will be allowed;

  • 53349 F-1 Re-Inforced Slicks Type A (Front)

  • 53350 F-1 Re-Inforced Slicks Type A (Rear)

  • 53374 F-1 Re-Inforced Slicks Type B (Front)

  • 53375 F-1 Re-Inforced Slicks Type B (Rear)

6. Driver figure must be used for Formula-1 car and open top Le Mans car. No driver figure is necessary for closed top Le Mans car. Modifications which alter the form of the original car, are not allowed.

7. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,000g for F101, F102, F103 and 1,100g for F103-LM.

8. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 3mm before the race.

9. The pinion must be chosen using the following gear ratios only;

  • 0.4 module:  20 - 29T Pinion Gear

  • 0.6 module:  12 - 23T Pinion Gear

10. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2001 Parts List for allowable spare parts.

 

Car Regulations for Formula 1 (F201) Class

(RUN WITH F102/3 CHASSIS)

1. Cars eligible for qualification are F201 chassis ONLY. These are cars 58288, 58294 and 58303.

2. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are not allowed) Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connector. Wire length must exceed 3cm.

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. Drivers may use one of the following motors;

  • 49247 – Super Stock Motor Type S

  • 49260 – Super Stock Motor Type RR

  • 49288 – Super Stock Motor Type RR G.Metal

  • 53068 – Sport Tuned Motor

  • 53476 – Super Stock Motor Type R

  • 53477 – Super Stock Motor Type T

  • 53696 – Super Stock Motor Type TZ

  • 53697 – Super Stock Motor Type RZ

5. The motor will NOT be supplied by the race organizer at the final event.

6. Maximum pinion size is 23T.

7. Only the following tyres and rims will be allowed;

  • 50936 – F201 Spare Wheels (F & R)

  • 50937 – F201 Front Tyres (w/Inner Sponge)

  • 50938 – F201 Rear Tyres (w/Inner Sponge)

  • 51009 – F201 Rims for Williams

  • 53564 – F201 Type A Tyres Front

  • 53565 – F201 Type A Tyres Rear

  • 53660 – F201 Type B Tyres Front

  • 53661 – F201 Type B Tyres Rear

8. A driver figure must be used. Modifications which alter the form of the original car, are not allowed.

9. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,400g.

10. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 3mm before the race.

11. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2004 Parts List for allowable spare parts.

 

Car Regulations for Super Stock Class

(South Africa ONLY)

1. Cars eligible for qualification are TL01, TB01, TA04, TA04S, TA04SS, TA04R, TA04 TRF, TA04 Pro, TA05, TT01, TB02, TB02R

2. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are NOT allowed) Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm.

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. Only the following motors will be allowed;

  • 49247 – Super Stock Motor Type S

  • 49260 – Super Stock Motor Type RR

  • 49288 – Super Stock Motor Type RR G.Metal

  • 53476 – Super Stock Motor Type R

  • 53477 – Super Stock Motor Type T

  • 53696 – Super Stock Motor Type TZ

  • 53697 – Super Stock Motor Type RZ

5. The motor will NOT be supplied by the race organiser at the Final event.

6. Motor brushes must be from Tamiya.

7. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

8. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,500g.

10. Any parts from TRF414, TRF414X and TRF414M are NOT allowed, except those which are commonly used for TA04 family kits.

11. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 5mm before the race.

12. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2005 4wd GT Parts List for allowable spare parts.

 

Car Regulations for 4wd GT Class

1. Cars eligible for qualification are TA03F, TA03F Pro, TA03R, TA03FS, TA03RS, TL01, TB01, TA04, TA04S, TA04SS, TA04R, TA04 TRF, TA04 Pro, TA05, TT01, TB02, TB02R

2. Only standard stick type battery packs up to 2400mah are allowed. (Matched packs are NOT allowed) Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm.

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. The motor MUST be from Tamiya ONLY, and only a motor up to 53485 Super Modified 11T will be allowed. The motor will NOT be supplied by the race organiser at the Final event.

5. Motor brushes must be from Tamiya.

6. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

7. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

8. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,500g.

9. Any parts from TRF414, TRF414X and TRF414M are NOT allowed, except those which are commonly used for TA04 family kits.

10. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 5mm before the race.

11. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2005 Parts List for allowable spare parts.

 

Car Regulations for Expert Class

1. Cars eligible for qualification are TB Evolution I – IV, TRF414 series (except TRF414X), TRF 415 series.

2. Any battery type, mAh and configuration is permitted.

3. Any electronic speed control is permitted.

4. Any Tamiya motor is allowed. The motor will NOT be supplied by the race organiser at the Final event.

5. Motor brushes must be from Tamiya.

6. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered to the motor.

7. Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

8. Minimum weight of car ready to run to be 1,500g.

9. Clearance under main chassis parts to exceed 5mm before the race.

10. Please refer to the Asia Cup 2005 Parts List for allowable spare parts.
