Every Year the boaters compete in their provinces to be able to get selected to participate in the Nationals. Each province has the opportunity to send their boaters that qualify, to the competition. The Competition is held at an alternative venue every year. The next competition will be held in Cape Town on the Brinks Dam. This dam is situated on the Fisantakraal Farm just outside Durbanville. The Map shows you in a little more detail where it is.
The racing takes place from Friday the 10th of April to the Monday the 13th of April. You can look at the program below for the details of the day's racing. After the racing is completed the best 4 races are taken from each boater and the winners are identified by the one that has the most points from the best 4 races in each class. Points are obtained after each race as follows: 1st Place - 9 Points 2nd Place - 7 Points 3rd Place - 5 Points 4th Place - 3 Points 5th Place - 2 Points 6th Place - 1 Points
A South African Team will then be chosen to represent South Africa in the World Championship in France. The event will be taking place from the 1st to the 9th of August 1998. Three participants in each class are allowed to enter in the World Championship from each country.
The World Championships are only held every 2 years. This requires that we look at the results of the previous years Nationals and include those RESULTS when determining who will be in the final team.
