Competitions for Model Power Boats
The racing calender for each club is published under the clubs pages if they are submitted to me. I have put all the info on that I have received so far. There is info that is still outstanding from most clubs as they have not been able to communicate that.
For the FSR-V competitions we run three classes. All three classes race every time we get together, plus a novice race for beginners until they feel they are ready for the real thing. The format of the racing is normally two 20 minute heats for each class. The winner for each class is then decided by the persons boat which performs the best out of the two heats. The classes are as follows:
A Class requires a 3.5cc engine. B Class requires a 7.5cc engine. C Class requires a 15cc engine.
Each class is only limited by the size of the engine. You can however adjust or modify mountings to fit any V-hull of your choice to get the best speed and handling for that engine. Engineering expertise is thus tested to the limit in this sport. The racing rules give you all the detailed information that you may require, feel free to view it. Take note that you will need to have Word 6 or above loaded on your computer to view it. FSR-V RULES or FSR-H RULES for Hydro racing There is also FSR- O for offshore racing.
Hydro classes are also classed under engine size and at this moment we are only running
the 7.5cc and 15cc class.
F1 boats that are in the country run under the Offshore rules and only the 7.5cc
class is run at this moment due to numbers.
Electric boats are also available but to date no class is running yet in South Africa. Any interested boaters out there that have electric boats can contact me and lets see if we can get a class going.
Any new boaters or spectators are welcome to join the group on the days as indicated in the various club programs. The racing program starts at approximately 08:30 and ends round 17:00 on each scheduled race day. This may vary from club to club. There are some Programs that can be used as a reference: Program 1, Program 2, Program 3. If you would like to get any additional information on the location of the events or anything else for that matter do not hesitate to contact me through E-Mail. Directions to get to any of the clubs are published on the various club pages. If its not there then its because I have not yet received the information yet, but you can then contact the various chairman`s of the clubs to get the required directions.
