General

Nyala is between the Bushbuck and the Kudu in both size and looks. Nyala are very shy and secretive antelope which makes hunting them very difficult, as they tend to stick to the thick bush. The principle enemy of Nyala is the Leopard which also occurs in the Nyala natural habitat. Nyala are browsers and will eat almost all trees, and shoots, and are also known to graze on new grass. When the Nyala bulls fight this is preceded by a display which involves raising the crest on the back, thus making the animal looking much bigger than he really is. In these fight it is the male which the longest hair that often wins.
