HEART MOVING STORY OF THE THEUNISSEN FAMILY:

A help fund has been established. Any donations are welcome and can be deposited into ABSA saving account 907 3699 651 Lichtenburg. This photo was taken only few hours before Elize Theunissen Dirk's mother and wife of Koos passed away. On the right is Christie van Wyk (President of the Ride Wild Motorcycle Club) which started the trust fund.
Dirk Theunissen
The 20 year old Dirk Theunissen from Lichtenburg was involved in a motorbike accident on the 15th September 2000. A strong wind caused him to loose control of the bike and he landed in a water canal. He was in a coma for a long time in Wilmedpark Hospital. He was transferred to Argyll Clinic where his condition changed to a semi-coma. The accident caused damaged to his middle brain and according to Doctors he could loose the use of certain limbs permanently. At first his family wanted to place him in a medical centre but the costs are extremely high. Dirk's medical Aid cannot carry any more costs.

Momentarily his family is taking care of him with a lot of love and affection. He has improved and can say a few words. Even though he cannot walk or feed himself, he is receiving physiotherapy and speech therapy. Everyone believes and has strong faith that Dirk will make a good recovery.

Dirk was an active sportsman and boxer before his accident. Furthermore he was a long distance athlete at school and has several medals and trophies.

On the 12th December 2000, Dirk's mother (Elize) the stone pillar of the family passed away suddenly of a heart attack. Dirk's father and three brothers are now attending to him.

Christie van Wyk (President) of the "Ride Wild Motorcycle Club" started a trust fund. A plea to the public has been made to support this fund by making a donation, which would be very welcome.
