The De Wets of Le Grand Chasseur

The Estate is owned by Albertus de Wet. He has an Honours degree in Agricultural Economy from the University of Stellenbosch.

His wife, Cecilia, is a clinical psychologist with a D.Phil. (Psychology) from Stellenbosch University. She has spent more than 20 years working at the local children's home. She also loves singing and is a member of the well-known Libertas Choir of Stellenbosch.

They have two sons, Deter and Wéan. Deter finished his Honours in Computer Science at the University of Stellenbosch in 2002 and Wéan is currently completing his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at the Cape Technikon.

The rest of the team

A good wine is made in the vineyard. Hennie de Klerk manages one team responsible for the cultivation of the vineyards. The other team responsible for the cultivation of the vineyards is headed by Freddie de Jager.
Wickus Erasmus joined the winemaking team in 2001 and is continually enhancing his knowledge of the process.

Karel Nienhaber is the "in-house mechanic". His is in charge of a small team who do  maintenance on the estate and in the cellar.
Marthie Rentzke is responsible for communication and administration regarding the cellar and the estate.

Bearita with some of our winesBearita Bester manages our tasting room next to the R62 in Robertson. She also markets our wines locally as well as abroad.
