KOBUS DE WET'S VP-1 |
What looked like a walk in the park, is more like hard work.
After the canopy was built I thought that maybe the instrument panel needs to look more business like and the radio needed a place to live. Out cama the old sheet aluminium panel and in whent an aluminium honeycomb sheet with all the holes for the instrument predrilled. The final touch was a layer of sinthetic leather over the honeycomb to hide the scratch marks of the work done.

The new panel ( a combination of two pictures) |
The instruments on the panel are left to right top row: Oil Pressure, Oil temperature, Becker VHF 720 channel radio, Hour meter and Fuel gauge. The bottom row is Magneto switch, RPM indicator, ASI, Altimeter, VSI and turn co-ordinator (Vacuum). The aircraft does not have an engine driven electrical system and a 18 amp/hr battery will be installed to supply power for the radio and the electrically operated instruments.
