Is trich (pulling) sin?

This is a question that I am often asked by Christians.

My honest, honest opinion is NO!!!

Is it sin when an OCD sufferer compulsively washes her hands?  Is it sin when an OCD sufferer refuses to walk on a certain crack in the road?  It sin when an ADHD sufferer cannot concentrate?  Is it sin when a diabetic gets an insulin attack (in public) and 'embarrasses' people/herself?  Do people blame that diabetic when she gets an attack?

OF COURSE NOT!!  None of them can help it, can they?  Did they ask to have OCD/AHD/diabetes etc?  Did they do anything to cause it, or to deserve it?  Of course not?

Well, EXACTLY the same with us.  We did nothing to cause it, to deserve it, and we surely don't want to have trich!  There is just something in our bodies which causes us to have these urges.  It is NOT our fault.

Are our bodies temples of God?  Of course.  Does God know that we have trich?  Does God understand how complicated trich is?  Of course.  Does God know how we struggle and how it is almost impossible not to pull?  YES!

To believe the above, you have to believe that trich is a disorder, an illness... NOT something that we do because of stress only, or because of some weird reasons.  Please look at the facts and myths of trich if you don't believe the above yet.

I guess the thing that made me realize most of all that trich is NOT a sin, came from my friend Robin.  Robin's daughter Tracey is a trichster.  But Tracy is a very special girl.  She is 18 but has numerous physical and developmental problems.  Please see her site to learn about Tracey's problems.

Tracey is mentally and physically challenged.   Tracy does NOT understand anything about sin yet.  Yet, Tracy constantly pulls out most of her hair.  I've had contact with people who said that their babies started pulling while they were still breastfeeding them.  What does that little baby know about sinning?  I know of people who pull in their sleep - who wake up and is totally shocked to see what they had done during the night WHILE THEY WERE SLEEPING.  Can one truly sin while you're sleeping?

I really and truly believe that trich is NOT sin.  Take it to God and give it all to Him.  He will NOT judge you... He loves you and cares for you.  I don't understand why we have trich... I know God had a plan in MY life with my trich, but to say that I understand it, would be a lie.  I don't know why bad things happen to us... but I do know that God loves us and that He is in control of our lives.  I don't like trich, but I have accepted it as part of God's plan in my life.  I can't get the answers for you... God is the only one that can show it to you.  I know it has been a long, hard road up to now... but God has brought me incredible healing and love.
