The operation is run by Heinrich Funck (a full time predator controller, an enthusiastic caller, hunter, varmint hunter and fisherman. I live in Philippolis, a small town in the sheep-farming southern region of the Free State, a Province of the Republic of South Africa. The Philippolis region is characterized by small rugged mountains (koppies) rising from vast plains, which the Gariep (Orange) river gorge breaks.

The PK le Roux lake (one of only two lakes in the Gariep River ) is part of my hunting area and fishing for the famous yellowish and enormous catfish is available. (See the part on fishing safaris). Excellent birdshooting from May to August is also available for species like francolin, guinea fowl, Egyptian geese, spurwing geese, ducks and doves.
