EZ-GIG
What's so special about EZ-GIG?
Patrick Reeves from Axiz explained to us that it is not the notebook that becomes obsolete but rather that it runs out of disk space. The process of adding disk space has always been a nightmare, but now with Apricorn's EZ-GIG this process has become simplified and automatic
In the past problems occurred because specific brackets or caddies were required to store the notebook. Transferring data from your existing drive to your new drive proved very problematic, because all the application and data files had to be transferred.
Now with EZ-GIG this process has been made a lot simpler. All that has to be done is a simple process where a PC card is inserted into the PC slot, and with just a touch of a button, all information, data, and the operating system is transferred onto the new hard drive. This means that you will end up with 2, 4, or even 5 extra gigabytes of memory which you didn't have before!
The EZ-GIG can be ordered like memory for specific notebooks. For example if you have a year old Compaq Armada note book, the specific caddies needed for the compact notebooks come with the EZ-GIG that is bought.
Before one considers using the EZ-GIG, backups of all data should be made and then a virus protection program should be run. This process is started with the notebook turned off. Clear all your PC cards from the PC card slot, then insert the EZ-GIG card into anyone of the PC card slots. Certain areas of the EZ-GIG card have been "blocked" so that there is no danger of inserting the card incorrectly and breaking anything in the process. Once the card has been inserted and the drive has been connected to the ribbon cable that comes with the kit, insert the bootable EZ-GIG data transfer utility disk into your floppy drive and boot up your hard drive using this disk. The EZ-GIG disk automatically identifies itself with the original and secondary drives and you will then be asked if you wish to transfer all data. Once data transfer has been completed, power down the computer, remove the original from its slot and physically install the new drive. Turn your notebook on and you're ready to go. The applications are pre-configured and all your data are there. Your obsolete notebook is no longer obsolete!
