Xerox Document Centre

On In Things today, Greg Melvill-Smith talks to David Dyas, from Xerox South Africa Ltd, about the Xerox Document Centre.

Xerox are known for being a photo-copier company, but Xerox announced its financial reports recently, and results showed that over 30 percent of Xerox revenues now come from digital products.

Last year, Xerox spent 1,7 billion dollars on digital development of new products. The new range of Digital Document Centres are moving Xerox away from being a photo copier company to a Digital Printer Combined Technology Company.

Their clients include anyone working in an office and utilising any one of these technologies at the moment, or anyone who will be moving towards using one of these technologies in the future.

Many organisations are moving towards using networks as an office based system, which means in the future they will move away from just using just a photo-copier to using printing or scanning technology as well. Any organisation, from a small company to a multi national company may have one or more of those components.

Laser printer technology is far more reliable than photo-copier technology, because of the fewer number of moving parts. When using one of the Xerox products, a copier for example, you would scan once, and then print many, thereby removing the recycling of the document and ensuring that documents have a much shorter paper path. The products were designed with a completely clean sheet and one of the main criteria was increased reliability.

The Xerox Digital Document Centres ranges from R2000 upwards, and being modular, they can be developed as your business or requirements develop. Having a laser printer, photo copier, fax machine and the scanner all combined together makes the total costs considerably cheaper - from 20 to 50 percent cheaper.

The Prize this week, the Xerox Document Centre PRO 545.This multifunctional document workcentre comprises of a printer, scanner and copier!
