Steeledale Systems pioneered the use of unbonded monostrand post-tensioning in America. The Dywidag post-tensioning system typically used in this application consists of greased, plastic coated wire strands with anchorages utilising two wedges to lock off the strand after stressing. Typical applications would include flat slabs, beams and slabs, coffer slabs, slags on grade, foundation slabs and bridges.

Tanks and reservoirs can be efficiently designed and built using the DSI ring post-tensioning system. Specially developed DSI anchors in most cases eliminate the need for buttresses and require minimum block out to provide stressing access. The system also allows for external post-tensioning ring which would have positive applications in remedial work to reservoirs and is suitable for post-tensioning precast circular wall panels.

DSI post-tensioning systems, either single or multi strand, have beneficial uses in all aspects of structural engineering. Specialised corrosion protected components are available. The Dywidag bar is a highly successful product used in various applications in the mining and engineering industry. This versatile bar is enhanced with different anchorage devices which transfer the applied force into the structure. The tensioning force is applied by means of a hollow ramjack which bears against the anchorage and is operated by means of hydraulic drive units. Lock off is achieved by tightening the anchorage nut at the required stress. Various corrosion protection systems can be applied to suit prevailing conditions. Applications include rock anchors, heavy lifting, incremental bridge launching, structural tie rods,remedial work to structural members etc.
