Edition 3: Crystals - Amethyst Crystals have been with us since the beginning of time. There are many references in Ancient texts of the benefits and uses of crystals. All stones and rocks contain crystals. For many, gems have been something only owned by the rich, such as Diamonds, Emeralds and Rubies. These gems are also classified as crystals. However, there are many crystals that are affordable for most people. Crystals come in many shapes, sizes and colours. Of the +/- 2000 minerals, less than a hundred are classified as gems and only 16 of these have achieved worldwide commercial status. These are: Beryl, Chrysoberyl, Corundum, Diamond, Feldspar, Garnet, Jade, Lazurite, Olivine, Opal, Quartz, Spinel, Topaz, Tourmaline, Turquoise and Zircon.
