Edition 1: Aromatherapy

Lavender Aromatherapy is a way of healing by using pure essential oils. The essential oils are very concentrated and are extracted from a wide variety of plants and different parts of plants. Essential oils have been around for centuries. There is mention of essential oils in the Bible as well as in Ancient and Chinese writings. Essential oils are extremely powerful and should always be used with care. Essential oils must never be taken orally. Essential oils can be used as follows: Bath, massage, room fragrances, inhalation or as a compress.

When using the essential oils as a massage medium, the oils must always be diluted in a good quality base oil before applying to the skin. It is also recommended that a patch test be done to check the sensitivity of the skin before use and when using an oil for the first time.

When using Essential Oils care must always be taken when dealing with babies, children and pregnant women.

Aromatherapy is a holistic approach to health. Essential oils benefit the physical, mental and emotional bodies. Because essential oils are very concentrated they are able to penetrate the psyche of the individual. Essentials oils can either be used on their own or in a combination of oils to promote healing on different levels.

It is recommended that you consult a qualified Aromatherapist for professional advise if you are uncertain about any oils that you may want to use.
