The Affirmation Practice

The following are important to remember when using affirmations to create a better life for yourself.
  1. Always write in the present tense. For example: I enjoy excellent health. Avoid using future tense, for example: I am going to enjoy excellent health. By using future tense, the results of what you are affirming will always be waiting to happen.
  2. Be Positive. Always say or write your affirmations using positive statements. Avoid negative statements. For example rather use I now have a wonderful job, doing what I enjoy and for a wonderful salary, instead of I hate my job. Even if you don't have a wonderful job, by putting your request out into the universe you are creating a positive energy field around you that must be acknowledged and will be answered.
  3. Short and Specific. When your Affirmations are short and specific, they are easier to remember and have a greater impact on the subconscious mind. Be as clear and specific as possible. For example: You want to travel to Paris - It is best to affirm I now have a wonderful time in Paris, instead of I love travelling the world.
  4. Repetition. When we repeat something that is not yet true for us, the repetition imprints itself on our subconscious mind. We repeat the affirmation until we are comfortable and believe what we are saying and writing.
  5. Persistence. When we do our affirmations daily it brings the desired result to us sooner than when we only do our affirmations on a sporadic basis.
  6. Emotions. Be passionate about your affirmations. Get involved and start to live your affirmation. If you are doing mirror work, do it with a smile. If you are using visualization live the part, if you are writing your affirmations out - do so with concentration and intent. Think of what you are writing out. Focus on the words, make them real for you.
  7. Take Action. Affirmations help us to change our mindset and replace old, negative beliefs that are no longer working for us. However, we still need to do more than Affirmations. For example, you are not happy in your current job. Start affirming. "I now create a wonderful job, working for wonderful people and for a wonderful salary". At the same time bless the current job you do have, after all your current job allows you to do pay the rent, and helps you buy your food, etc. Also start putting more effort into your job. Also start putting your feelers out for another job. Type up your CV and hand it out to prospective employers. Write out what sort of job and environment you would like to work in. Do some research. If you would like to work in the Public Relations field but don't have the experience or skills. Take a course. All of these things together with doing your affirmations will help you to achieve your desired result. You can do this for all aspects of your life. Relationships, Health, etc.
  8. Intuition. When you are doing your affirmations, you will find that things are starting to happen in your life, some expected and others unexpected. Don't resist what is happening but rather go with the flow. As soon as we resist what is happen we block off the energy from flowing naturally.
  9. Personalise your affirmations. When you do your affirmations, use your name. For example, Lynda has a wonderful job that she enjoys and earns a wonderful salary. This is another way of reinforcing the belief of what you are affirming.
