Winelands

Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa and was founded by Commander Simon van der Stel in 1679. The town is renowned for its university which was established in 1918. Stellenbosch is very proud of its history and there are many buildings which have been restored to their original beauty and charm and the area has many fine examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Stellenbosch is about a 45 minute drive from Cape Town.

Visiting the Stellenbosch area has to include a trip on one of the famous wine routes. Even if you're not interested in the wine, the beauty of the country makes for a spectacular experience.. Stellenbosch, the name has become synonomous with wine. The wines are among  the best in the world. The first wine route was established in Stellenbosch and was founded in 1971. The wine route is a wonderful opportunity to allow visitors to talk to winemasters, and see how the various wines are made. A visit to Stellenbosch's wine cellars is an experience any wine lover should not miss. Why not check out SmartSearch™ and browse through some of the online wine farms?
