South Africa, including the Cape Wine
Route.
DAY 1
- Depart Port Elizabeth
and travel via the Old Cape Road and
Van Staadens
Pass, the "Suicide Bridge" and Jeffrey's Bay
to Storms
River Mouth, stopping at the "Big Tree" for a short
walk
in the beautiful Tsitsikamma Forest.
- Enjoy the balance
of the morning at Storms River Mouth
- After lunch travel
via the "Old Pass Road" to Nature's Valley
and Plettenberg
Bay before reaching the quaint little
town
of Knysna
- End the day
with a seafood plater of oysters, mussels and
champaigne on the Knysna Ferry Boat as you enjoy
a sunset cruise to the Heads at the entrance to
the Knysna Lagoon.
- Overnight
in Knysna
DAY 2
- Start the
day with a stroll through the village befor
departing for Oudtshoorn.
- Leaving Knysna
we travel through the small town of Sedgefield,
the Lakes District and Wilderness, where we stop at
Dolphin Point to enjoy the view, before travelling on to George.
- Our journey
takes us over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass
through the "Honey Mountains" to Oudtshoorn.
- After lunch
we visit the gigantic Cango Caves.Here we
enjoy conducted tour of the first five magnificant caves
- Our final
stop for the day is the "Safari Ostrich Ranch".
Here we learn the facinating story of the worlds largest bird.
- As the day
ends we travel to Mossel Bay for our overnight stop
DAY 3
- The day starts
with a short City tour of Mossel Bay before
joining the coastal road past the huge Mosgas Oil Project
and on to Riversdale and Uniondale before stopping at
Swellendam for lunch at the Drostdy.
- After lunch
we travel through the wine areas of Robertson
and Bonnieval and the fertile Hex River Valley.
- Worcester
is our next stop where we visit "Kleinplaas" a
working museum. Here the brave can taste the infamous
"Witblitz"
- As the sun
sets we reach our overnight stop at the
historic town of Paarl
DAY 4
- Our final
day starts with a cheese tasting at Fairview
Estate before we visit K.W.V. for a conducted tour of
the home of the South African wine industry. Here we have
a chance to taste some of the best ports and sherries of the land.
- A vinters
platter waits for us on a nearby wine estate. Lunch
with a glass of local wine under the cool oak trees before
setting off for Franschoek and Stellenbosch to soak up
the local sights
- The afternoon
is spent winding our way through the wine
route to Cape Town where our tour ends
